How do I pick what dog photos I want to print?

After your dog’s photoshoot we will take a few days to go through the hundred or so of photos from your session and handpick the absolute best of the best (typically 8 – 12 images). Once we’ve carefully curated your pet portrait collection we will then use digital editing tools to improve these dozen or so high quality images – mainly to maximize image sharpness, clarity, color, tone and contrast – and ensure that they are ready for printing.

Online proofing is included

When your images are ready to be viewed they are uploaded to a password protected online proof page dedicated exclusively to your dog and we will schedule a print consultation.

We walk you through the print process every step of the way

During your print consultation we will walk through your various paper, size and mounting options, print pricing and take the time to answer any other questions you may have. Your print consultation is for your benefit. You should expect your print consultation to take roughly 15 to 30 minutes, but if you have more questions or have trouble deciding on images you’re welcome to spend as much time with us as you would like – or even schedule a second phone consult.

Print consultations are for your benefit

We don’t believe in high pressure sales tactics or impulsive up-sales. At the end of our call we hope that we’ve successfully answered all of your questions, but there is no need to make a decision on the spot. In fact, we never take payment information over the phone during our print consultations.

Place your print order when you’re ready

We’re confident that you’re going to love your dog’s photos and will want to order prints, but what prints you order or how many prints you want (if any) is inevitably up to you. Following your print consultation we will send you a digital invoice along with online payment instructions. You’ll be free to pay with most major credit cards (including Mastercard, Visa, and American Express) or Paypal when you’re ready.

What happens if I change my mind?

You’re welcome to change your mind  after your print consult, but odds are you won’t. We only proof photos that we think will make outstanding art prints. But that said, not all images are equal. Typically, we’ll get one or two absolute stand out images from a session. Where all of the photos we proof are great, these gems happen when the dog’s expression, pose, lighting and focus all come together for the perfect image. More often than not, client’s gravitate to these image without any guidance as they’re simply that superior. Which is why it’s so rare for a client to change their mind following their print consult.

That said, our prints prices aren’t exactly cheap and your dog’s portrait investment isn’t something to be taken lightly. So, welcome clients to take the time they need to mull over their order, consider different sizes and prices points. All print orders are final once placed (it’s not like we can put the ink back in the printer). But there is nothing stopping you from changing up your order and requesting to see itemized variations of your invoice.

Transparent pricing and itemized invoices

We’re not a big fan of surprises or “gotcha” pricing. Which is why we are such strong proponents of transparent pricing. All of our digital invoices are itemized, line item by line item, spelling out exactly what image files will printed at what size and what is included with our various mounting images. We even list how your deposit, promotional print credits and sales tax will be applied to each line item. If you have any trouble understanding your invoice or have a question about how a specific item was calculated, we are happy to walk through the invoice with you over the phone.

Note: there is 30 day time limit for minimum print commitments

If you wish to have your sitting fees from your pet portrait session waived, you will need to have your qualifying order placed within 30 days of your dog photos uploaded and presented as proofs. But considering that most print consults are scheduled within a handful days of proofing, that should leave you plenty of time (typically up to 3 weeks) to review your proofs, seek out a second opinion or two, and decide confidently on your order.

You can’t rush perfection and we want to make sure that you’re purchasing the right prints from your dog’s portrait session. All to ensure that you will be happy with your order for years to come!
