Cute Pit Bull Puppy Pictures: Surreal Dog Portrait with Bella’s Bully Buddies

Cute puppies make for the weirdest dog portraits We went back to basics with an all white set shooting Carly and then decided to get a little creative in post. Carly is a 3 month old American Pit Bull Terrier mix currently in foster care at Bella’s Bully Buddies. As you can see, we had a little trouble keeping this sleepy pup awake as she was totally pooped from her training class earlier in the day. If you would like […]

Hon Fest 2018: Temporary Studio Closure

The 2018 Hon Fest is nearly upon us! We will be open for business, but we will not be working in studio this weekend. It’s just too crowded and noisy for us to comfortably and safely accommodate our canine guests during Hon Fest. We will have no studio hours available from June 8th – June 10th. If you would like to come in for a session, please visit us once the crowds subside or alternatively, consider booking an in-home dog […]

Breaking Through Creative Blocks: Lessons learned from Paper Hats

Written by J.B. Shepard, a professional pet photographer and founder of the Puptrait Studio. Creative Block Definition Creative Block (noun): A term loosely based on the concept of “Writer’s block”. A condition, in which an artist experiences a creative slowdown or performance crisis. Often perpetuated by the feeling or sense that progress and inspiration are somehow impeded by an unseen or unknown barrier. Creative blocks are disruptive by definition and crippling in nature. Top 10 Dog Photos of 2017

As 2017 draws to a close we though it might be fun to revisit some of our favorites professionally captured dog photos and puppy portraits of the year. Part of which can be chalked up to our team simply getting better in post and working more regularly in Photoshop, but a good number of these portrait concepts were driven by client requests, […]

We love photographing dogs, all dogs, regardless of their breed. That all said, we have to admit that some breeds, for a multitude of reasons, do tend to ham it up more than others. […]

Will Spaying or Neutering Calm a Dog?

Will neutering calm a dog? Spaying or neutering your dog can change your dog’s hormone levels. However, whether this effects your dog’s behavior and how it impacts your dog’s behavior will depend on a number factors. Some dogs are calmed by neutering, but the behavior of others may remain unaffected by neutering. But for some dogs, spaying and neutering can actually encourage more aggressive behaviors. That response might sound complicated, but the underlying chemical mechanisms driving these behavioral changes are […]
