You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby!
It’s hard to imagine now, but when we opened our first studio location on Falls Road was a bit of a disaster and extremely tight on space. Our dressing room was once generously described as “gas station restroom chic” and whenever I stood my hair brushed against the ceiling.
As you might imagine, this limited who / what we were able to photograph and how we were able to work. The space was fine for photographing dogs. You don’t need a 72″ umbrella to photograph a 35″ tall dog. They didn’t mind the lack of AC or the smell. People on the other hand? Not so much.
Fast forward to today and it is almost comical how much larger and nicer our current space is in comparison to those early days. Needless to say, those early constraints are a thing of the past.
Upgrades People! Upgrades!
Our studio is now in a place where we finally have the space, equipment and facilities required to photograph people properly. Something that I have personally been looking forward to for years now.
I have spent the last few months quietly executing test shoots behind the scenes and we think it’s time to finally open up our session calendar to include a much wider range of subjects — including dogs with their owners and personal portraits of individuals without dogs *Gasp!*.
Puptrait is now a Pet AND Portrait Photography Studio
As of today we are officially accepting both Classic and Paper Hat sessions with and without dogs. Yay!
It is going to take us a minute to fully update our website, but the two largest hurdles for the pivot — our studio’s Booking Widget and Price List — have already made the shift and are now both accurately reflecting the new “People Only” and “Dog & People” session info.
In other words, we are now officially ready to start booking people portraits!
